A Mindful Center is a perfect place for therapy and to find your center.  They currently run one set of classes with hopes to expand to three.  Previously, with no site, they were struggling to get the word out about what they do and get customers to sign up.  My job was to create a beautiful website that informs and directs people who want to sign up for classes.

Challenges

This project will be my first time building out a website in WordPress.  I had previously edited sites on WordPress on other projects though so I had some working knowledge and felt as using some sort of Content Management System was the best route for this project.  WordPress gives the client the ability to edit their site easily and in an enjoyable backend environment. As it goes, I communicated this information with the client and they were completely understanding.

Deliverables

  • Logo
  • Website Design
  • Responsive Design
  • Form Building

The Color Scheme

Before I could get started on the website design, the client and I hashed out some really great ideas for the logo and the colors that will be associated with the brand.  The nature of A Mindful Center is calm and peaceful and back to nature.  Blues and Greens were central to the color scheme.

The Logo

During my interview with the Client, they had mentioned how A Mindful Center, and the philosophies that build their program, was based on the concept of being “centered”.  I attempted to reflect that idea within the logo itself.  After several variations and styles, I came across a set of logarithmic spirals that when placed together would create a larger spiral within a circle.  The work on the logo was downhill from there.

The Forms

A Mindful Center wanted a few things that required the use of certain kinds of forms. The first was a simple newsletter form that would collect emails and allow for a regularly published newletter.  The second was a registration form that would allow the user to sign up for a class with A Mindful Center and relay information about time and place of class.  The last form needed was a contact form that would let the user communicate with A Mindful Center in a private manner. I recommended a well known and popular plugin, Gravity Forms. Gravity Forms allows for a multitude of different kinds and different styles of forms for virtually any need.
